Why install CCTV?

During a seminar at Abuja Police HQ, ASE was asked “What good is a recording of a crime when the thieves or bandits have long gone?”

We explained, "Firstly, with the crime recorded on hard drives we eliminate the possibility of human error during the investigating process, even and especially when they are errors due to corruption, bribes or otherwise.

Secondly, the wealth of evidence obtained from such a recording is crucial to the successful identification of the offender/s.

Finally, the evidence can be transmitted and stored at safe, secure location (on request this data can be stored and processed at our UK branch), making accidental or deliberate destruction impossible."

However, the paramount principle of CCTV is PREVENTION.  Once installed, there is evidence to show that our systems actually prevent crime occurring.

Principles of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras:

DETECTING CRIME

Crucial to any detection of a crime/s is the accuracy of the evidence. Video footage of a crime being committed can reveal a great number of crucial evidential leads regarding the identities of the offender/s.

The Evidence obtained from such recordings are:

VOICE PRINT ANALYSIS & IDENTITFICATION

Masked offenders

When identity of offenders is difficult due to facial covers etc the CCTV recording will obtain, amongst other things, the voice print of those responsible.  The voice print of an individual is unique to him/her with an accuracy rate of 99.9%.  When a suspect has been located and detained a voice recording sample can be obtained, covertly or otherwise and sent via email to our UK branch for analysis and comparison.  On receipt of the sample, ASE guarantees the results to be returned within 48hrs.

EYE RETINA IDENTITFICATION

When facial covers are used the eyes may be captured by CCTV.   If this is the case and it is of good quality, this evidence can be sent to ASE branch office in the UK for comparison to be made against that of the arrested suspect.  As with other biometrics the eye retina has an accuracy rate of 99.9%.

CRIME PREVENTION

It is well-documented that wherever security cameras are in operation, they act as a deterrent towards criminals. Possible offenders are deterred from operating in the area for the fear of being monitored along with the possibility of overwhelming evidence being brought against them. Statistically, this fear leads to a dramatic drop in crime. It is common to see crime rates drop by as much as 84% when cameras are installed.

ACCURACY OF EVIDENCE

The accuracy of evidence once captured on CCTV is undeniable.  This evidence is so accurate it is now commonplace in Law Courts globally.

IDENTIFYING AND LOCATING OFFENDER/S "MOST WANTED"

Nigeria has NO up to date National Police Computer or Criminal database that details the Biometric information on offenders or other information crucial in the fight against crime such as names and address/s of suspects and their associates.

Coupled with a population of a 150 million residents identifying offenders is a huge challenge for Law Enforcement in Nigeria.  ASE has therefore added an additional tool to our crime fighting techniques.

ASE has dedicated a section of our website to the MOST WANTED criminals in Nigeria. This was created in order to help Police, Law Enforcement and Law abiding individuals along side our clients identify offenders.  Any individual seeking a reward is invited to visit our MOST WANTED section of the ASE website and look within the area that he or she lives with a view to identifying any of those individuals displayed within the section.

If identification is made and this proves to be correct, ASE will make payment to the individual via prearranged methods so not to divulge the source of information. The identity of those displayed will remain on the site until such a time as they are apprehended.

Where an act is particularly hideous ASE will supply the Press and Television Stations with photographs or video imagery of those that it seeks to identify along with the details of the amount of the reward available leading to the arrest of those that are responsible.
